[edit] About this site

This wiki is intended be an information resource about the Cincinnati region. There are several different focus areas that direct activity here.

The first focus area, which could be called "The Big Here", was inspired by a quiz of that name originally developed by Peter Warshall and Kevin Kelly. The Big Here quiz is intended to inspire people to think about the place they live and find out more about their region. This wiki attempts to answer the questions on the quiz for people living in the Cincinnati area while at the same time, hopefully inspiring Cincinnatians to be inquisitive about their surroundings and the many invisible factors that influence life in this region.

The second focus area is an examination of how Cincinnati is developing through the lens of city and regional planning and development. Cincinnati has had a long history with planning, but despite this a lot of the processes behind how things like roads, buildings, and infrastructure get created are invisible. This wiki attempts to illuminate the processes, people, and ideas that have been influential in the development of the physical city itself.

The third focus area, which could be called "Who Rules Cincinnati?", is an examination of the power structures that govern the city, ranging from government itself to our many large corporations. This was inspired by the study entitled Who Rules Cincinnati? by Dan La Botz. The thesis here is that corporations, and well-connected people play a large and invisible role in forming public policies. This wiki attempts to highlight these connections and influences.
