[edit] City Council
Cranley was appointed to City Council in 2000 by Todd Portune to fill his vacated seat as he left for the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners. Cranley ran and won his council seat again in 2003, 2005, and 2007.
Cranley ended his eight-year run as a Cincinnati city councilman in January 2009, 11 months before he had to, giving his replacement Greg Harris a leg up on this year’s council campaign. The other four Democrats on council – Jeff Berding, Laketa Cole, Cecil Thomas, and David Crowley, along with Mayor Mark Mallory and Democratic Party Chair Tim Burke chose Greg Harris to replace Cranley.[1]
[edit] District 1
Cranley ran in the November 2006 Elections for District 1 Representative to Congress against incumbent Republican Steve Chabot.
Cranley ran against Chabot in 2000 for the same seat.
[edit] City Lights Development
As a partner at City Lights Development, John is working to restore the historic Incline District of East Price Hill. [1] City Lights is developing a $50 million project which consists of condominiums, health care facilities, restaurants, and a banquet hall. [2] City Lights has already purchased Queens Tower Apartments and converted them to upscale condominiums and purchased and renovated homes in the district to spur other residential renovation. [3]
