Tarbell was first elected to council in 1998. Due to term limits he was not able to run in 2007.
[edit] Hamilton County Commissioner
Tarbell is running for Hamilton County Commissioner in the 2010. He is running in the Democratic Primary in the May 2010 Elections. The General Election is in the November 2010 Elections.

Tarbell has served Hamilton County in numerous capacities, including as a representative on the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission and the Hamilton County Planning Partnership, as a member of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority and the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI) planning committee.

He once owned Arnold’s and is currently the owner of Grammar’s.
[edit] Over-The-Rhine
Tarbell is known for living in and being a strong supporter of the Over-the-Rhine neigborhood. He was honored in 1997 as the Over the Rhine Chamber’s Man of the Year. A large mural of Tarbell is painted on the side of a building near the corner of Central Parkway and Vine Street, which acts as an entrance to the Gateway Quarter.

Tarbell is a board member of the Charter Committee of Greater Cincinnati.
