Watson's experience includes serving as the President of the Cincinnati Avondale Community Council, Community Liaison for former Vice Mayor Minette Cooper and working as Community and Legislative Liaison for Mayor Charlie Luken. Within nine months of taking that position, she was promoted to the Mayor’s Chief of Staff, serving for 5 years.

Since that time, Bernadette served 2 ½ years as the Public Information Officer for the Cincinnati Health Department’s Office of Community Advocacy before retiring from the City of Cincinnati. During this time Bernadette worked with Homeland Security (Emergency Preparedness) with the Southwest Ohio PIO Group and with local state and federal legislators during budget cycles and grant allocations.

Most recently Bernadette has been serving as Partnership Specialist Team Leader for the U.S. Census Bureau. During this time representing the Detroit Regional Census Center covering the City of Cincinnati as well as Hamilton and surrounding counties.
